Are you Procrastinating…

Are you Procrastinating…

Are you procrastinating on bringing a goal alive?

If you think dumping a few gallons of water in your oil reservoir would be bad for your rotating equipment, consider the consequences that “striving for perfection” has on your happiness and productivity.

I call it the Prison of Perfection and it’s wicked.  It’s where our goals go to die 👿.

Perhaps I can save you years of self-inflicted scorn with a reminder 🔔 of the greatest lesson my mother ever taught me.

The much-needed-reminder came while I was preparing for an epic, three-day, black tie Italian wedding.  I found the most exquisite gown (perfect for me!) along with the perfect shoes while on travel in Dallas.  (These shoes are more gorgeous than Dorothy’s ruby slippers 👠.)  The ensemble was to be shipped to me once the gown alterations were complete.

🔔 Lesson Reminder #1:  When the gown didn’t arrive on the promised date, I called and learned it had not been shipped.  Thanks to FedEx overnight, I received it in time (whew!).

🔔 Lesson Reminder #2:  When I unpacked the shoes, I noticed a rhinestone missing from one of the heels.  At first, I was really annoyed, and my sister insisted that I call and have them ship me a new pair.
But then it hit me 🤦‍♀️.  The perfect gown with a shipping error and a shoe with a missing rhinestone…

THE LESSON:  Perfection is an illusion.  You are not meant to be perfect.  No one is.  Rather, you are here to be Perfectly Imperfect.
And just to reinforce the lesson and send some love 💌 from the beyond, my mother sent another reminder.

At the wedding, my cousin Laurie sat down next to me, crossed her right foot over her left knee, and disappointedly 😞 said, “Look at this.  I have a rhinestone missing from my shoe.”

Yep. Right shoe, same side of the shoe as mine.  I beamed on the inside ☀️.

If you’re procrastinating on bringing one of your goals alive because you’re worried it won’t be perfect, here’s a news flash 💥.  It never will be.
Perfection is an illusion that will rob you of your dreams if you let it.  Don’t fall prey to it.

The world is waiting for whatever it is you have to offer.  Take one Perfectly Imperfect step at a time and go for it.
Here’s to you bringing your goal alive 🥂!

Love, Nancy 💖 (That’s love from my mother; at my father’s insistence, they gave me her name.)
