Are your Asset Management efforts worth your TIME?

Are your Asset Management efforts worth your TIME?

What does asset management have to do with TIME? Everything.

My mentor, John Moubray, taught me that our most valuable resource is TIME. Time is WAY more valuable than money.

How you spend your TIME determines IF and HOW your asset management efforts will pay off. In other words, will your efforts help you achieve the kind of equipment Reliability you’re looking for?

How I applied all seven steps of Reliability Centered Maintenance

How I applied all seven steps of Reliability Centered Maintenance

How I applied all seven steps of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) on my drive home from the Reliable Plant Conference

I just can’t seem to get away from Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM).

(And that’s okay with me. After all, my (technical) heart and soul belong to RCM!)

I was driving home from Indianapolis, Indiana after speaking at the Reliable PlantConference ~ 399 miles.

Gain Control Over Your Equipment Using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)

Gain Control Over Your Equipment Using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)

I know.  I’m a lady.  But it’s not my expression. That’s what my mentor, John Moubray, called it.

And he didn’t apologize for it when he used exactly that term during a one-on-one mentoring session with me.

And to this day, it’s one of the most valuable (and profitable) lessons he ever taught me.

In fact, it helped me win $1,428 in a poker tournament.

One of the Biggest RCM Misconceptions

One of the Biggest RCM Misconceptions

You must have comprehensive “historical data” in order to carry out Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) (misconception)

Historical data is important for a Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) analysis. But the kind of data that is generally collected isn’t sufficient to answer all the questions in the RCM process – and thereby formulate specific solutions.

Are you managing YOUR most valuable asset properly (or at all)?

Are you managing YOUR most valuable asset properly (or at all)?

The most valuable advice John Moubray ever gave me applies to everyone no matter who you are, what you do, or where you’re from. It took me twenty years, but I finally got it.

When John gave me this gift, he simply made two statements.

Here they are: I don’t own a television. I won’t allow one in my house.

Simple – yet VERY complex.

Essence of Reliability Centered Maintenance, and Risk Assessment

Essence of Reliability Centered Maintenance, and Risk Assessment

My not-so-dirty-little-secret, the Essence of Reliability Centered Maintenance, and Risk Assessment all at once…

I’m going to tell you a not-so-dirty-little secret about myself. I love No-Limit Texas Hold-‘Em poker.

I’m a tournament poker player – not cash. Every year at Thanksgiving, my husband and I journey to Las Vegas to indulge in my favorite hobby.

How to Get Buy-in for RCM

How to Get Buy-in for RCM

Hi Everyone.  Are you struggling to implement Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) because you need buy-in from people?  Well, if that’s the case, I have a solution for you. And we’re going to take our lead from these gorgeous daffodils.

Daffodils are my all-time favorite flower.  I’m a sucker for them:  (1) Because they look so happy! (2) You can always rely on them.  At the same time every year, the daffodils come up. And there is a technique you can rely on to get the buy-in you need from management and other people within your organization to implement Reliability Centered Maintenance and it is this.

Are you Procrastinating…

Are you Procrastinating…

Are you procrastinating on bringing a goal alive?

If you think dumping a few gallons of water in your oil reservoir would be bad for your rotating equipment, consider the consequences that “striving for perfection” has on your happiness and productivity.

I call it the Prison of Perfection and it’s wicked.  It’s where our goals go to die 👿.

Why do Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)?

Why do Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)?

Equipment performance degrades unless it is maintained properly. Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) can help you figure out what preventive maintenance and Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) you should be doing to get the Reliability you need from your equipment.

I’ve driven this route at least 3,000 times in the last 12 years. If you asked me if I would ever see a Tupperware-bowl-full of cut honeydew melon…or a pair of sneakers and an orange sitting atop a highway barrier, I would have said “𝘯𝘰.”

How to Choose Proactive Maintenance Strategies

How to Choose Proactive Maintenance Strategies

When it comes to our machines, we can do Condition-Based Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance in addition to other actions such as No Scheduled Maintenance or equipment redesigns. With those options available to us, how do we choose what to do and when to do them? This is a great strength of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM). RCM helps us to identify the right maintenance to do and how often to do the maintenance tasks. For example, should a Scheduled Replacement task or a Condition Based Maintenance be implemented? Join me as I share how RCM can help us develop the right Proactive Maintenance so we can achieve the Reliability we need.
