PDM with Martin Blenkers

All through Europe, America and other emerging economies, the new wave of industrial technologies is bringing a fundamental shift to how we approach operations. With tools like artificial intelligence and machine learning, reliability and maintenance as we know it is being curved in vastly different ways. Martin of Uptime Works helps us get up to speed with how we can start leveraging predictive maintenance strategies to improve productivity and cut on costs.

The points addressed in this podcast highlight:

  • What Predictive maintenance is
  • The importance of predictive maintenance (PDM)
  • Technologies that can strengthen successful PDM
  • Major considerations before getting into PDM

Enhancing Manufacturing with PdM with Saar Yoskovitz

There are organizations who have taken advantage of the new technologies like machine learning and methodologies such as data analytics. These have made it easier for reliability engineers to focus more on Predictive Maintenance rather than traditional maintenance and uptime increase. Now, the companies are growth-oriented and they want to enhance their manufacturing. They are practicing Predictive maintenance on a much wider scale. What they do is that they take machine data from the sensors, analyze it, and then catch a failure before it starts to develop. By doing this, they are able to mitigate an issue before it can cause any damage to an asset.

How to Get the Most Out of Your PM Program with Ricky Smith

There are a lot of companies that have their own Preventive Maintenance programs now and only a few of those are good at it. Even though they perform regular preventive maintenance but they never get the desired results. The equipment still fails frequently and they are annoyed by the fact that what they do never works. It is mostly because they do the same routine compliance over and over again without ever trying anything new or at the very least learn about new practices. This is where the Preventive Maintenance fails and companies bear the extra cost of maintenance.

Understanding Ultrasound with Allan Rienstra, Part 2

When it comes to condition-based monitoring, no matter how hard you try, you can never have 100% failure protection. At some point and on some level—even at the smallest levels—something is going to go wrong and your assets are going to fail. The best choice is to always plan for those sudden failures to minimize their damage in the end. The only way to ensure that is to have a very good detection strategy in place. Ultrasound helps greatly in achieving this milestone by helping you monitor the health of your entire facilities, giving you a much better proactive approach.

Introduction to Vibration Analysis with Jason Tranter, Part 2

This episode of the rooted in reliability podcast provides an introduction to the vibration and vibration analysis with Jason Tranter. There are a lot of failures that occur in the machinery of an organization just because their condition monitoring processes are not very good. Most of all, the technicians who are assigned these tasks related to the condition-based maintenance of the rotating machines either don’t have enough knowledge or they are not doing it correctly. And because of that not only the budget of the facilities suffer but also the reliability programs are affected by these failures at a great level.

The Condition of PdM in Industry with Tom Wilk

This episode of the rooted in reliability podcast is about the condition of predictive maintenance in the industry and the guest in this episode is Thomas Wilk who is the editor in chief in Plant Services—a publication in the field of maintenance and reliability. There is no doubt in the fact that predictive maintenance is very critical for increasing uptime of your equipment and the productivity of your plant. When you can predict the failures that are sure to occur in the earlier or later stages, that is where you start to make the smart decisions regarding the maintenance of your assets that you have placed in your organization.
