How to Learn Reliability Engineering
podcast episode
It’s not possible to point to one moment, class, seminar, workshop, or conference where I learned reliability engineering. Not one situation, project, conversation, or meeting either. Learning reliability engineering is a journey and each is different.
Some of us start in the field of reliability engineering by choice. Others by being assigned the role. Either way, we then start a career-long journey that includes formal and informal education, and a lot of exploration, discovery, and observations along the way.
Let’s take a look at a few ways to really learn what you need to know along your journey to become a reliability engineer. Where do you start? What resources are available? How to structure where to focus both short term and long.
More than just a catalog of available learning opportunities, let’s focus on how you can assess where you are along the path and what you need to know, then discuss a few options available to you to gain the knowledge you need to continue your professional development.
