Much like the issues with education teaching the students to test instead of the subject in general.
At the last RAMS conference I went to the iPhone had just been released. At the dinner table we had an apple RE and one who had bought his two for his twin teenage daughters for Christmas. Both iPhones’ screens cracked in less than a month.
The RE from Apple stated how the drop test was lowered to one meter, as they knew it would fail the two meter drop. But the trade off was to have a screen that was scratch resistant.

Well, at least its scratch resistant. Most owners put a case around their smartphones to increase shock resistance of a drop, which is a good idea.
