Condition-based monitoring is one of the best ways to proactively approach the solution to the problems. When you are looking at the equipment for expected failures, it is very important to check the power conditions. There are a lot of failures that can be captured ahead of time if you have the power quality checks in place. When we talk about Power monitoring, the maintenance managers have to look for voltage spikes, current flow, and thermal changes in the operating environment of the equipment. This can be done by using thermal sensors but there are specific solutions for doing it in efficient ways.

One of the devices called Fluke 3540, is a remote cloud-based power monitoring solution that can help you capture power data in time and plan your reactive maintenance based on that. It is portable three-phase power and condition monitoring kit that uses remote sensor data to monitor the equipment for changes in electrical conditions. It is a very easy to use solution and helps you detect those variations in the energy consumption that cause the machines to fail due to the overpower issues.

It allows you to monitor your equipment from a safe distance in a real-time manner. All you have to do is install the device; it will detect the voltage spikes, you will get a notification on your screen, and have access to all the power data. You can look at the values and then plan your maintenance based on that. It happens all the time in the facility that you miss changes in thermal conditions because they are not detectable. With Fluke 3540, not only you can detect those slight variation and deviation but also capture that data and show it to the management. They will see the problem for themselves and allow you to take the necessary measurement before the problem gets worse.

This power monitoring device has three phase inputs and runs on chargeable battery. One of the major benefits of using this remote solution is that you can store your historical power data, look at it when needed, and then trend that data to be analyzed by the others. It allows you to share the information using graphical and software data trends which is huge when it comes to an easy understanding of the problems. It is a scalable device and has an automatic alarm system in place whenever the energy thresholds cross over the set limits. It also detects frequency variations, power factor values, and harmonic distortions. In short, Fluke 3540 is a very effective way to integrate your condition monitoring systems for better maintenance and reliability practices.
