HALT requires going beyond design or use specifications, yet when it fails in HALT how can we address the common response “of course it broke, you exceeded specifications”

• Why many engineers that have not performed highly accelerated limit testing have not realized how strong standard materials systems may be
• Why finding the upper limit and running a microprocessor a 200 degrees Celsius is useful information for HALT of higher level assemblies
• How a failure mechanism that is found will above use specifications may fail in the field after fatigue accumulation over many months or years
