Dealing with Reliability Metrics
Abstract
Adam and Fred discussing a few of the common reliability metrics.
Key Points
Join Adam and Fred as they discuss pluses and minuses of commonly used Reliability Metrics
Topics include:
- Selecting Metrics at the beginning of a program will have a significant affect on how decisions are made and how reliability influences the program
- What are the criteria for selecting a good metric for your program?
- Does using a metric that is in the structure of “Indexing” instead of an absolute scale help or hurt communicating reliability performance to the team?
Enjoy an episode of Speaking of Reliability. Where you can join friends as they discuss reliability topics. Join us as we discuss topics ranging from design for reliability techniques, to field data analysis approaches.

Gentlemen, please disregard incomplete previous comment.
Dev teams use multivariate optimization approach to trade off things like reliability, cost, consumer appeal, other features.
we defined boundaries of a stay inside multidimensional box, and trade design variables to stay inside.
Yes, this is rocket science and it’s for hard problems.

Thomas,
I would like very much to hear more about that approach. Do you have more information on that method you could share? Feel free to email me directly at abahret@apexridge.com
