Weibull Analysis and Physics Trumps Mathematics
Abstract
Andre and Fred discussing the need to understand failures mechanisms using a combination of analysis and physics.
Key Points
Join Andre and Fred as they discuss need to tease more information out of your test and field data.
Topics include:
- Basically, all models are wrong yet some are useful
- Just because you find a correlation doing regression analysis, is there a reason that you can explain
- It is an iterative process of data analysis and experimentation to reveal the physical or chemical processes involved in failures
Enjoy an episode of Speaking of Reliability. Where you can join friends as they discuss reliability topics. Join us as we discuss topics ranging from design for reliability techniques, to field data analysis approaches.

Good discussion on Weibull Analysis and how it can be misused and abused! I would suggest that the audio podcast discussion might be enhanced with at least a few separate slides for reference of key points and things like the URLs cited or in the inserted audio ads.

Thanks of the note Kim, and yes adding the URL’s mentioned would be good to do… cheers, Fred
